General advice

Bring suitable working clothes, waterproofs and wellies, something waterproof to sit
on (a bin bag will do) plus food and drink.  For those who are unsure of where to go

Tetanus
Don't forget to keep up your tetanus jabs. If you have had a few over the
years it is possible that you won't need any more, but please make sure.


The following program is a guide to give you an idea of what work to expect but
quite often events overtake us and we may be given something quite different to do.
So if you think a particular task doesn't look very interesting, come along anyway -
you may be pleasantly surprised.

8th  January BROOKFIELD FARM, NORTH RIPLEY
This is a wet meadow and as such we are trying to keep it that way. We shall be cutting silver birch, a little gorse and probably some rhododendron. There is a clue in the name of this meadow (i.e. wet) so bring your wellington boots.

Today we are working in the woodland opposite the centre. Cutting willow and moving logs. The Forestry Commission will have cut down some stands of trees and we will clear away the logs and burn the brash.

If you missed this site last quarter then don’t miss this one. A lovely site where today we will be coppicing some hazel. From the A337 Lymington to New Milton road, turn into to the Efford Estate, now housing Otter Nurseries.  Do not turn right into the Nurseries but keep straight on until you reach some outbuildings, where we will meet at 10 am.
