GORLEY COMMON
Around the edge of Gorley Common are the remains of the rampart of an Iron Age Fort.
We will be coppicing gorse on the slopes of the ramparts to help reveal the profile of this scheduled ancient monument and to create varied age structure to the gorse to promote biodiversity.
Meet at Buddle Hill car park.
If coming from the south/Ringwood direction, turn off the A31 at Ringwood and take the A338 north to Salisbury. About a mile and a half north of the village of Ibsley (The Old Beams Inn is on the main road on the right), there will be a right turn to "North Gorley"
At the "T" junction turn left, then after a few yards, take a right turn signposted to "Hyde". Follow the narrow lane up the hill past a thatched cottage on the left.
On the brow of the hill is a right turn up a gravel track - this leads to Buddle Hill Car Park. This is not signposted.

KEYHAVEN NATURE RESERVE
For a number of years we have been cutting rides and creating "Scallops" in the blackthorne and gorse scrub on the edge of Keyhaven marshes. This habitat management has attracted nesting nightjars to the area and four pairs were recorded there in the summer. We will be cutting back vegetation along the edge of the rides to maintain them as sunney corridors for wildflowers, invertebrates and small mammals as well as clearing the gorse.
We will meet at the pedestrian gate at the start of the path along the seawall by Keyhaven Harbour.
